This Weekend’s Hike

The Mister and I went on another hike this weekend.  We were actually out the door by 7am!  We’ve discovered that starting a hike early in the morning is great for a few reasons – parking is better, it’s not as hot, the trails aren’t as crowded and we have the rest of the day to get things done (or not, whatever). I thought I would share some pictures with you friends.  I have really come to LOVE hiking and everything that goes with it.  The sights.  The smells.  The quiet.  Quiet isn’t something I get often these days.  Being … Keep on reading —->

Fun At The Bridal Fair

Since this year I’m focusing on spending a little bit of money on experiences, I decided to give in and go to a bridal fair.  I got a coupon for $2 off attendance, making the admission $5 per person.  I bought my friend’s ticket because that only seemed fair.  So, I spent $10.  I figured that was reasonable enough.  I also figured I might as well have this experience, at least once. I thought if nothing else, I’d get to sample food and make fun of bridezillas.  Unfortunately, I didn’t see any raging bridezillas, but I did eat a LOT … Keep on reading —->

DIY: Mod Podge

You know this stuff, right?  This is probably the most known and commonly used product for decoupage.   It’s fantastic!  And expensive! Every time I go to Michaels, I find myself standing in front of the Mod Podge fantasizing about all the fantastic things I could make with it. Thankfully I haven’t given in to this urge!   Since I’ve been stuck in my apartment for days, sick, I started getting antsy and I wanted to do something crafty.  I wanted to decoupage.  The one problem I had was, I don’t own any Mod Podge or any other sort of … Keep on reading —->

Free Ice Skating

Did you know that Denver has a free ice skating rink?  If not, continue reading and consider yourself informed. At Sky Line Park, off of 16th Street Mall, Southwest Airlines sponsors an ice skating rink for the community and it’s FREE!  If you don’t have your own ice skates  they offer rentals for $2.   All in all, $2 to ice skate is a pretty fantastic deal.  You can check out the Downtown Denver Partners website for more specific information about the rink.  It opens the day after Thanksgiving and runs through mid-February. I was so excited last year when I … Keep on reading —->

Curse You Free Taco Bar!

Last night I went to a farewell happy hour for one of the nurses I work with.  I hadn’t had the pleasure of working with her much, because my current job doesn’t require to me to interact much with any of the medical staff at the agency.  But, she is the awesome nurse who offered to take out my stitches for me after my surgery, so I wanted to make sure to go and spend a little time getting to know her better before she left. Of course I went to the bar expecting to drink some water, socialize and … Keep on reading —->

Free Saturday Fun

Yesterday was a great day.  It was chocked full of free things to do, which always makes me happy! First off, I went to a free screening of the new movie Puss In Boots. The Denver Pubic Library had posted a link and code to get free tickets on their Facebook Page last week and of course I hopped on it!  The website I got the movie passes from was gofobo.com, which I had never heard of until the library posted this. I had originally asked The Mister if he’d like to go with me, but for some reason the thought of … Keep on reading —->

Spending Fast Happy Hour

I was invited to a happy hour on Thursday night by some of my co-workers.  Hooray!  I love happy hour.  Sure, happy hour usually means drinks and food, but for me it means shootin’ the shit with friends and relaxing after work. I used to go to a lot of happy hours.  In doing so, I would inevitably spend $20-$30 on drinks and food.   That has since stopped, but it doesn’t mean a girl can’t hang out in a bar without drinking.  Right? Right! I knew that if I was going to be strong I would need to plan … Keep on reading —->

Halloween Costumes

5 years ago I had just graduated from DU.  I was working a contract job, trying to get as many hours as I could to make ends meet.  With the ridiculous student loan payments I had, I didn’t have any extra money to buy a costume.  I couldn’t even rationalize spending the money to find one at the thrift store. I had been invited to a Halloween Party and didn’t want to miss out on the fun because I couldn’t afford to buy a costume. So what did I do? One night while I was working an overnight shift at the … Keep on reading —->
