Sometimes, I just gotta be quiet

Yesterday I was in the checkout line at Sprouts.  I wasn’t paying much attention to the conversation between the check out guy and the customer in front of me until I heard check out guy say “I love this bread!”.  I took notice of what kind of bread he was referring to.  It was a great bread – Oroweat Oatnut.  Yum! As soon as I noticed the bread, my next impulse was to tell the customer “You know, you could get that cheaper at the bread thrift store down the street…”   It’s true!  The only time I’ve actually bought this … Keep on reading —->

Thrift stores are amazing places, for about a million reasons.  You can find some great deals, if you know how to shop there.  Yes, I believe there is a method to shopping at a thrift store.  If you go into a thrift store blindly, you may become overwhelmed, disappointed or confused.  You have to have a game plan in place and know how to execute the game plan properly. Where to Find Coupons

Lately I’ve shared some of my more memorable coupon adventures (here and here) and I shared with you the news that Dollar Tree accepts manufacturer’s coupons.  On TTSW Facebook page, someone posed the question – Where do you find digital coupons?   How rude of me – I assumed everyone was in the know about this stuff.  My sincerest apologies.  Please let me make it up to you. So, where does one find coupons? *The following information is based on what I use.  If there are other resources out there that I didn’t mention, please leave a comment! Newspaper This … Keep on reading —->

My Hygiene Product Stock Up

So, is the fact that I say ‘hygiene products’ instead of ‘personal care’ products a total Social Worker thing?  Do other people call them this or is it just SWer speak? Anyway… Last week, I finally ran out of shampoo.  I say finally because I had stocked up on shampoo and conditioner back in June of 2011 (read the post HERE) on Alice.com.  I had bought a ton of Aveeno shampoo & conditioner at a decent price (for Aveeno).  At the time I spent $39 to get 4 bottles of each. This go around, I say nuts to that!  I’ve … Keep on reading —->

My Latest Coupon Adventure

I really enjoy coupons.  It’s like FREE MONEY.  To avoid using coupons is a travesty, but I also think using coupons to extreme and stockpiling food you’re never going to use is also a travesty.  I’ve tried to find a sweet spot with using coupons – not too much, not too little.  Just enough to save a decent amount of money on items I need or want. If you’re new to coupons, check out the guest post from Operation 40k earlier this year about coupon basics.  You can read that post HERE. Last night, I was so proud of my … Keep on reading —->

How I Got a Free Cell Phone Case

This weekend I went to my cell phone carrier’s store to see what phones were available to get free when I renew my contract.  My contract just came up due and I had hoped to make my phone last a little longer, but unfortunately the processor in it is going to pot.  I found one phone that was $50 with a $50 mail in rebate.  Didn’t take me long to decide.* *I had also done my research before hand, so I wasn’t going in blind.  It is actually a pretty good phone. While we were there, the salesman tried to … Keep on reading —->

Say Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Dollar Tree Takes Coupons!

I always feel like I’m the last to know stuff.  The news that Dollar Tree accepts manufacturer’s coupons is no exception.  Where the heck was I back in August when this news came out? Anyway – So, have you heard? Dollar Tree accepts manufacturer’s coupons!  Yippee. This sounds spectacular on the surface.  You may find yourself saying “But everything’s a dollar already!  Man, this is going to be sweeeeet!”  Don’t get too excited. Here’s the deal – Dollar Tree sells a LOT of off brand stuff and the name brand stuff they sell is often in bizarre quantities.  Let’s take … Keep on reading —->

Back on the Menu Planning Wagon

In the beginning of 2011, I took my hand at menu planning.  It’s a somewhat simple process of planning what I’m going to eat for a specific period of time.  I do it weekly and I go grocery shopping weekly. I made a very simple template using Microsoft Excel.  It looks like this If you would like a copy for yourself, feel free to print it from the Printable Templates section of the site or you can download it directly HERE. Over the last couple of years, my relationship with menu planning has been an on-and-off sort of relationship.  In … Keep on reading —->

Stalking the Clearance Guy

Since The Mister and I got back into town on Monday evening, we’ve neglected to sit down and make a grocery list.  Instead we’ve been mainly eating out of the cabinets, with an occasional trip to the grocery store to see if we can score some clearance meats. When we hit up the grocery store, we have a very firm routine to check out the clearance goods – first we go through the produce section to see if there is anything on clearance there, then through the deli, over to the meat section, on to the general merchandise clearance and … Keep on reading —->

Who Says You Can’t Eat Good On Clearance?

I’m sure I’ve written about my love of the grocery store clearance section before.  I had to.  Well, perhaps I haven’t.  I’ve blogged about it in my head a million times.  That counts, right? So, I LOVE the clearance food at the grocery store.  Whenever I hit the King Soopers, I have a specific route that I take.  First the produce section to see if they have any clearance but they usually don’t.  Then onto the meat clearance, where I’m usually able to score something good (and sometimes even use a coupon too!) and then onto the general merchandise clearance … Keep on reading —->
