A little update

Hiya!  How’ya been? Life has been peachy here – just a little busy.  Since I haven’t had time to even really think about posting lately, I thought I would at least gather together a financial update.  April and May (so far) have been VERY good to me!   I have officially paid off more than 75% of my private student loan.  That means less than 1/4 of it left to pay.  I think I can say with complete confidence that this loan WILL BE PAID OFF BY THE END OF 2013!  Woohoo! Check it… That’s right, I have around $7 Grand … Keep on reading —->

3 Paycheck Month

March is a 3 paycheck month for me and I’m over the moon about it.  I’m not excited because I get to buy some useless crap with this ‘extra’ money, I’m excited because I get to make a sizable payment toward the ol’ loan and that makes me giddy. If you haven’t caught on by now, I’m a geek like that. I remember prior to 2011 when I realized it was a 3 paycheck month, I would get just as giddy but for the opposite reason.  Oooh, what can I buy now?  Sometimes it was electronics, sometimes clothes.  Sometimes it … Keep on reading —->

Monthly Update: February 2013

Greetings, from a lazy blogger!  I guess I should give myself some credit – I’m not so much lazy as busy and otherwise unmotivated. February went by quickly and I realize that I haven’t posted anything since the January Monthly Update.  Bad Blogger! As I mentioned in January, my life has become busy all of a sudden.  When it rains, it pours.  Work is busy, both my regular 9-5 job as well as my part-time contract job.  Call me crazy, but when I spend all day at a computer and then come home and work a few hours at the … Keep on reading —->

Monthly Update: January 2013

Hiya.  January is over already (where the heck did it go?!) and I’m ready to review it. 2013 has proven to be busy so far and I have a feeling it’s not going to let up anytime soon.  Unfortunately, I’m not sure if that means I’ll be finding extra time for blog posts or not, but I shall do my best to continue to post on a regular basis. Work continues to be really busy.  Most of the time, it’s a good busy.  I’m really hopeful for the year to come and I think there are some good things ahead … Keep on reading —->

No Dine Out January – 2 Week Update

At the beginning of January, I declared January as “No Dine Out January”.   The Mister and I decided we wouldn’t eat out for the month of January. I also created a poll to see if other people thought they could take on the task.  At first glance, it really does seem simple, but damn it’s hard when you’re hungry and tired! It looks like about 3/4 of folks who answered the poll believe they could do it.  I do appreciate the 2 people who said Nope, can’t do it.  If you decided to join me & forgo eating out … Keep on reading —->

My Budget & Spending Tracker Templates

I’ve done some tweaking to the Printable Printables section of the site. Changes and edits were long over due.  Go on over and check it out.  There just might be something that tickles your fancy. I am such a geek.  I really enjoy working with spreadsheets and creating templates.  The problem for me tends to be actually using the templates and keeping track of things.  One of my goals for 2013 is to keep better track of everything.  My plan for 2013 is to keep better track of all of my spending and to dedicate some time daily to this … Keep on reading —->

No Dine Out January

On New Years day, I asked The Mister if he has made any resolutions.  “Yes”, he says. Short pause… “Care to share those resolutions?” I asked. “To get back on track, eat healthier, work out, you know…” He outlined a few things, which included eating out less. “Well, we should set a maximum number of how much we can eat out then.” I said.  “What do you think is a reasonable number of times to eat out in a month?  Two, maybe three times?” “Yeah, I think two times sounds good.  Anything less might be pushing it…”  See, even when … Keep on reading —->

The Secret to Successful Goal Setting

It’s that time of year again.  A fresh beginning.  A new year to make everything right.  That time of year where everyone makes a resolution to do better this time.  When we wake up on January 1st, we have the best of intentions.  Yes, this year is going to be the year. According to one statistic I’ve read, only 8% of people keep their resolutions!  That means 92% of people fail to keep those well-intentioned goals.  80% of those who make a resolution will give up by January 20th! Ugh.  Those are some gnarly statistics to be up against. Do you … Keep on reading —->

2012 Year in Review

Get ready for the obligatory Year In Review post… Some General Things… 2012 was definitely a memorable year.  First of all, I became The Mister’s Misses in October.  It was a long year of wedding planning and when it came down to it, the wedding was perfect {at least I like to things so } My original hope of having a wedding that cost under $4000 was a little lofty, but I did manage to keep it under $8000.  This included decorations (for 2 receptions), dress alterations, the venue, alcohol, food, transportation, hotel room, travel arrangements for reception #2, etc.  … Keep on reading —->
